Dear Fellow
School Counselors:
At this time
of year, the Florida School Counselor Association (FSCA) solicits candidates
for its Governing Board. Please help us identify the next generation of
Florida's school counseling leadership by seeking an elected office or by
encouraging those you believe to be talented leaders in your area to become
candidates.
Elections will
be held beginning the first of March and terms of office begin on July 1 and
end on June 30. During this election
cycle, FSCA seeks to fill five (5) positions, all of which are at-large
Governing Board Director positions. Those candidates receiving the five highest
number of votes are considered elected to the FSCA Governing Board and shall
serve a three year term.
While there
are some face-to-face meetings and responsibilities, most of the duties of
board members are accomplished using technology -- telephone conference calls,
SKYPE, or e-mail. At a minimum, all Governing Board members are expected to
participate in all FSCA Board meetings and the Annual Convention. Some board
members are also asked to represent FSCA at state or regional meetings,
professional development, and other professional activities.
Members of the
Governing Board do not receive any financial compensation for their service
although they are reimbursed travel expenses and other costs according to FSCA
policies on reimbursement. Those who have been involved have recognized the
benefits of this leadership experience which includes networking, learning
about school counseling issues, developing strategies to advocate for the
profession, collegiality, and excellent professional and personal development.
FSCA makes
every attempt to schedule travel during weekends to minimize board members'
time away from school.
Those
interested in becoming a member of the FSCA Board of Directors should complete
the Nominations and Elections packet (see below)
