Presenter:
Mr. Dan Turk

DSM V: Mental Disorders in Children & Adolescents, 12:30-2:45PM: Children and adolescents' mental disorder are a growing health concern. These disorders are associated with significant impairment. Affected students are at high risk of school failure, interpersonal difficulties, and self-harm. These disorders are frequently overlooked and undertreated. This is an unacceptable situation because disorders such as depression and anxiety respond well to psychosocial interventions. School counselors can play a key role in detecting and referring students to appropriate mental health resources. School counselors need to know the most current information regarding mental health disorders. The purpose of this training is to present current DSM-5 classification of commonly observed mental disorders.
