A Guide for Improving Your Effective Services for the Homeless
TIP 55: Behavioral Health Services for People Who Are Homeless
Treatment Improvement Protocol (TIP) 55, Behavioral Health Services for People Who Are Homeless, supports behavioral health service providers and program administrators who work with people who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness, and who need treatment for mental or substance use disorders. In addition to behavioral health service providers and program administrators, TIP 55 is recommended for clinicians, counselors, physicians, and social workers.
This guide will help you:
  • Become more effective clinicians for people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
  • Provide preventive services for individuals and families who are homeless, with an emphasis on emergent behavioral health disorders.
  • Influence the understanding of others regarding the interrelationship of homelessness, mental illness, and substance use disorders.
