Florida Schools to receive RAMP Honor

The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) recently announced that five Florida schools have been designated as Recognized ASCA Model Programs (RAMP). Two of these schools also received the RAMP School of Distinction designation which honors schools with exceptionally high-caliber school counseling programs based on scores from a panel of RAMP reviewers.
The RAMP designation, awarded for aligning with the criteria in the ASCA National Model, recognizes schools committed to delivering an exemplary comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program. Since the program’s inception, more than 800 schools have been designated as RAMP recipients. This year, 140 schools nationwide will receive the RAMP designation.
The schools will be honored at a recognition ceremony at ASCA’s Annual Conference in Los Angeles, Calif., on Monday, July 16, 2018, for making an outstanding commitment to comprehensive school counseling programs.
The 2017–2018 Florida RAMP schools are:
Henry H. Filer Middle School (School of Distinction), Hialeah
Herbert A. Ammons Middle School (School of Distinction), Miami
Lamar Louise Curry Middle School, Miami
Park Vista Community High School, Lake Worth
Venetia Elementary School, Jacksonville
“Congratulations to the 2017-2018 RAMP Florida schools! The Florida School Counselor Association (FSCA) is so pleased for these five school counseling programs to be recognized as model programs of excellence. Each ASCA RAMP school team exemplifies the commitment to the school counseling profession, and to student achievement and success.  Thank you 2017-2018 Florida RAMP Schools for serving as exemplary models for our profession and thank you for impacting your students and schools. You make a difference today, tomorrow, and for the future” (Dr. Rebecca A. Schumacher, FSCA Executive Director).
RAMP applications are reviewed once a year by school counseling professionals, who assess the school counseling programs in 12 different areas of expertise. The next submission deadline is Oct. 15, 2018. For more information on the program, visit www.schoolcounselor.org/ramp.
