Call for Authors- opportunity to share your group counseling activities!

 

CALL FOR AUTHORS!

        

The Association for Specialists in Group Work (ASGW) published a popular book School Counselors Share Their Favorite Group Activities. Due to continued interest, ASGW plans to publish a second edition of this book, School Counselors share their Favorite Group Activities: A Guide to Choosing, Planning, Conducting, and Processing, co-edited by Rebecca A. Schumacher and Khristi Keefe. We are currently seeking activities for this publication.

Submissions are due to the Editors by August 1, 2014. Decisions will be returned to authors by September 1, 2014 and any requested revisions will be due by October 1, 2014.  Submissions should include the following:

o   Title of the activity

o   ASCA Domain: (Academic, Career, Personal/Social)

o   School Level: (Elementary-specify whether lower or upper elementary or both, Middle, High School)

o   List the potential Stage and Session(s) for the activity: (Orientation Phase, Transition Stage, Working Stage, Termination Stage)

o  Rationale for the activity (1 paragraph)

o   List 1-3 Goals for the activity: (be specific if this activity applies to new knowledge, behaviors, skills, thought, feelings, beliefs and/or perceptions learned)

o   Identify the ASCA Standards the activity meets

o   Estimated Time Length for the activity

o   Materials and Equipment needed

o   Describe Pre-Group preparation

o   Describe Specific Directions for the activity

o   List 3-6 potential Processing Questions

o   Describe any Precautions and Considerations in using the activity

o   List References and/or Credits

o   Provide Author(s): name, title, professional affiliation, contact information (email, phone, postal mailing address), and a brief description of group work in schools.

Activity submission should adhere to APA style

TO SUBMIT AN ACTIVITY: Save your activity in an attached msword file titled with the first author’s last name ASGW Activity.  Example: Keefe ASGW Activity. If you submit more than one activity, please identify this with a number before the last name. Example: 2 Keefe ASGW Activity.

Email each activity to schoolcounselorsasgwbook@gmail.com  In the subject heading of the email, please put your last name ASGW Activity, and if submitting a second activity, 2 last name ASGW Activity.  Example: Keefe ASGW Activity.
