SAMHSA Releases Guide for Helping Families Support Their LGBT Children

Helping Families to Support Their LGBT Children The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has released “A Practitioner's Resource Guide: Helping Families to Support Their LGBT Children” to assist healthcare and social service practitioners in engaging with and helping families support their lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) children. This guide describes the early ages of self-awareness and the coming out process for LGBT youth and discusses the critical role of families in reducing the risks and promoting the well-being of LGBT children.
