Safe/Supportive Schools Volunteers Needed

Safe/Supportive Schools Volunteers Needed

ASCA is collaborating with the American Psychological Association's (APA) Safe and Supportive Schools Project (SSSP), and ASCA and APA are seeking five middle and high school counselors with extensive experience working in high-risk schools to help SSSP staff connect the scientific evidence on safe and supportive school environments with the practical needs of school professionals to effectively deliver services and support to students in high-risk schools.

Volunteers will be needed for approximately 15 hours fro February-April 2014. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Jill Cook by Jan. 15, 2014. Include your contact information and any experience you have  implementing strategies to create safe and supportive school environments in high-risk middle and high schools related to bullying prevention, parental engagement and school connectedness. Also share your experience working with youth at disproportionate risk including: LGBTQ youth, homeless youth and youth enrolled in alternative schools.
