In the Industry

Poster Contest: Students across the country are invited to showcase their artistic talent, commitment to fitness and love of roller skating by participating in Roller Skating Association International's 2007 National Poster Contest. RSA is offering a $1,000 gift certificate to Office Max to the school with the most participants. The winner will receive the honor of having his/her artwork reproduced and displayed nationwide as the National Roller Skating Month poster (October 2007).

Only a Dream: In January 2007, Federal Student Aid launched a public service campaign called "Only a Dream" to inform parents and students that $80 billion is available in student aid to pay for college, trade school or professional school. The PSAs are available for download and can be used in your local school.

Reading Help for Students: Reading Rockets, an initiative of publication television and radio station WETA, looks at how children learn to read, why so many struggle and what can be done about it. Parent newsletters with tips for building reading skills at home are also available. WETA also has initiatives focusing on learning disabilities, LDOnLine.org, and Colorin Colorado, which helps P-12 educators and Spanish-speaking parents help English language learners read successfully.

NCDA Requests Survey Assistance: The National Career Development Association Leadership Academy for 2006-08 is conducting research to discern strategies that create an organization successfully meeting its members needs. The academy is collecting information regarding services, offerings and successful communication which encourage professionals to join and continue membership in professional organizations. The survey can be completed in less than 10 minutes. Deadline is April 1, 2007.
